Passionfruit
Passionfruit and Granadilla are both part of the Passifloraceae family. There are several varieties of passionfruit but the two main commercial types on the market today are the Purple passionfruit (Passiflora edulis.) Passionfruit reaches the size of a small plum or grapefruit and has a deep red to maroon outer skin color. The inner flesh of the Passionfruit has a jelly-like consistency with black seeds. Passionfruit offers an astringent tropical flavor that is sweet as well as tart.
Despite its small size, it’s rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and plant compounds that could benefit your health. Your body doesn’t usually absorb iron from plants very well. However, the iron in passion fruit comes with a lot of vitamin C, which is known to enhance iron absorption
