JOCOTE FRUIT
Jocote fruit (pronounced ho-CO-tay) grow on deciduous trees in warm tropical climates. Jocote fruit is also known as Purple Mombin, Jamaica Plum, Ciruela (Spanish for “plum”), or Hog Plum.
Our Jocote is a new arrival from St Lucia, jocote is a must-try for exotic fruit lovers. A delightful fruit that will arouse your tastebuds with its combination of sweet and subtly sour notes, evoking flavours reminiscent of mango, cashew apple, plum and some may also say Guinep.
Young Jocote fruit are green or yellowish-green and ripen to a purple or red color; some variants of the species will ripen to a yellow color, with a edible skin. The pulp is yellow when ripe and sweet.
